Neurophysiology

The major research interest of our lab is to understand how neuronal structure, function, and connectivity affect behavior.  Current research projects entail: 1) examining how local neuronal networks are affected in animal models of cortical malformations with impaired neurological function (e.g., epilepsy, mental retardation), and 2) examining whether alterations in local neuronal networks contribute to neurological dysfunction during “normal” and pathological aging.  The experimental techniques used in our lab include: in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, behavioral testing, western blots, and immunohistochemistry.
